2002 оны гуравдугаар сард NASA хос хиймэл дагуул хөөргөснийг ихэнх хүмүүс мэдээгүй. GRACE нэртэй эдгээр дагуулууд нь дэлхийн татах хүч, цаг уурын ажиглалт судалгаа хийх зорилготой.

Үүнээс гадна нэгэн чухал мэдээлэл цуглуулдаг нь дэлхийн цэнгэг усны нөөц. Өнгөрсөн долоо хоногт GRACE дэлхийн хамгийн том 37 цэнгэг усны нөөцийн нөхцөл байдлыг тодруулж дуусчээ.

Харамсалтай нь эдгээрийн гуравны нэг нь шавхагдаж, байгалийн эргэн нөхөлт нь хэрэглээгээ гүйцэхээ больсон байгааг илрүүлсэн байна.

Хиймэл дагуулын хэмжилтэнд тухайн бүс дэх усны нөөц багасч байгаа бол татах хүч нь мөн багасч мэдрэгддэг юм байна.

Энэ хэмжилтээр дэлхийн хамгийн том 37 цэнгэг усны нөөцийн 13 нь багассан үр дүн гарчээ. Эдгээр 13-ын найм нь эргэн нөхөгдөхөө больсон байна. Үлдсэн тав нь хэт их хэрэглээтэй байгаа тул эргэн нөхөгдөх хурд нь гүйцэхгүй байгааг харуулжээ.
